Marketing essay

I just post my part here for tomorrows meeting. i cant take my laptop there.--mimi


According to our brand profile, we have done some research about our competitors. Here we will have a review about them.
One of our competitors is Timberland. Timberland has been marked as an American manufacturer and retailer of outdoors wear with a focus on footwear. Timberland has a strong name and brand recognition. Although it focuses on a specific group of consumer, nearly 90% people know the brand. Because it’s a brand that has long history so that consumers are attracted by its good quality. At the same time, the product concentrate on a small area makes limited consumers. One of the economic effects of Timberland is that, timberland relies on sales over seas in Europe and Asia, the U.S. dollar will seriously influence it when grow or crisis.  To become more stable, we suggest that timberland should have some collections more fashionable to ingratiate more people.

The second one is Barbour. Barbour sales manner of products loosely described as drapery including outwear, boiler suits, painter’s jackets through to underwear since 1894. This is a historical brand that famous for its good quality of materials and famous for wax cotton. Barbour has almost the longest history with wax cotton. One of the reasons that makes Barbour so famous is it has retail shops all over the world. The same as timberland, not only the people who need it know about Barbour, but others as well. This is important that when consumers need that kind of cloths, they will consider Barbour as first choice. Though it is nice for Barbour that it keeps the style for years, it still needs to be more fashion aware. They would not loose the consumer, but they can improve their sale amount with more designs.
